In project #1, I would like to focus on showing the ideal version of normal from before the coronavirus vs. the “new,” normal that we are currently living in. In this project, I would like to use videos from coachella(or other music festivals), typical daily events( such as birthday parties, grocery shopping, going to the park, etc.)
and contrast them with the mask wearing activities that fill the daily lives of people around the world. My focus on this aspect of the coronavirus is to show how quickly the society has changed from a tactile, compassionate community to one where the fear of germs dictates the level of compassion and understanding people can have for each other.
I would like to use the software, mad mapper and project this onto a person’s face, and slowly drain the color saturation from the videos as I progress into the mask wearing part of the project.
My hope with this project is to illuminate how socially, society has devolved from communication into an abyss of fear.
