Project #4- Final Blog

In my final project, I explored the divide between crafting and fine art, by combining aspects of both. I made my pages and digitally decorated the images with photoshop, by way of digital painting and collage. I then printed the pages and bound them into a book. In this piece I am trying to convey a sense of nostalgia through abstraction.

I used bright vibrant colors to communicate my love and appreciation for my family members. This piece was a struggle for me, considering that I had never bound my own book before. I had never even threaded a needle before, so sewing my book was an interesting endeavor. After I sewed my book, I realized that I didn’t want to do a thick binding, so I used glue and afterwards put washi tape over the top. In the future I would like to try a different threading pattern to create a more dynamic book and seamless pattern.
