In my creation of project three, I wanted to focus on the idea of abstraction with emphasis placed around colorful playful abstractions that are reminiscent of childhood. Growing up my favorite things to make were abstract pieces that centered more on color, shapes, and created a piece that could be spliced into collage to further create more art.
In playing with this idea, I wanted to play with collage and digital painting to create a textured effect that would juxtapose three dimensionality with the two dimensional landscape. The struggle with creating this project was that I have never truly created a proper zine before.
This was interesting considering the level of difficulty I found in trying for almost a solid week to try my hand at a variety of zine softwares with no prior knowledge, which was great in theory until I found myself struggling to make it through layouts. I decided to try flip snack after a friend recommended it to me and found myself in love with the process of layouts and the idea of creating my own book. In the future, I hope to continue exploring zine making and possibly make a series of them.
