Flora and Fauna Selfie Project

Updated: Feb 11, 2019

Hi everyone! In this project, I decided to focus on the main themes that comprise my life.

In this image, I decided to show how my life has become a blend of Georgia and Colorado. I lived in Georgia for most of my life, and everywhere I would go people would say "y'all," while as here in Colorado I rarely hear it anymore. I feel like I have blended aspects of both areas into my life, I still believe manners are underrated, but I have started wearing hiking boots to class. I used the sign to show my Georgia roots and I used the flowers( which I see everywhere) to show my Colorado immersion.

In this image, I used the color chartreuse as a border to show my optimism, the flowers to show my hospitality, and the cat to show i'm a bit of a contradiction, in that I can be scattered and unpredictable.

For this image, I was inspired by the past few years of helping take care of my grandma. Horses symbolize freedom, so I used the sunset to show how I felt a bit trapped. The sunset for me represents a feeling of loss, for a long time my freedom was gone, but I have finally gotten it back. Freedom is very important.

This image shows my life as a collage of idealism and realism. I frequently exist in the extremes of one or the other.

I decided to use these squares like paint chips and I am very proud of how it ended up looking. 50 shades of grey!

In this image, I focused on showing all the qualities and lessons I have learned from my mom. I feel that because of her I am a true friend, compassionate, and spunky. The wallpaper shows yellow roses, which represent friendship, and the five flowers( besides representing each of our family members), represent compassion and love.

I used this image to show that my grandma is the head of my family tree( which is represented with the tree in the middle). I think that she has made me sassier and a stronger person. She is truly the center of my family, and she has played a large part in the development of all of our personalities.

In this image the blue represents sadness, my cat( Willow) represents longing, and the cat tail plant represents nature. I'm missing walking behind my house in Georgia and exploring the woods.

This image represents my constant struggle with the food allergies I have developed, thanks to black mold. In 2017, I lived in a house here with black mold and developed allergies to dairy and eggs. The gorillas represent my frustration, along with the red in the background, show my anger towards dairy and eggs.

This image with my cat( Willow) and daisies represents nostalgia. I miss childhood!

In this image, I put the person I hope to become, smart, always changing, and loyal. The fox represents intelligence, my dog( Ivey) represents loyalty, and the plants in the background which are dying and experiencing regrowth show change.

In conclusion, I loved making the photoshop images, but illustrator was a nightmare. I feel like I am truly starting to understand both programs though.

Here are some images that inspired me:
